Destination Wedding Photographer - Edinburgh

If you are planning a destination wedding let Scotland be high on your short list. Step back to the “old country” with many ancient castles and great history from “braveheart” country. The capital Edinburgh is also the “festival” city at the heart of the city high on a rock with devine majesty, is a castle, an ideal scenic wedding destination. Heading a short distance down the Royal Mile is St Giles’ Cathedral, where the Earl of Strathearn (prince William) was given the Order of the Thistle by the Queen with a magnificent reception venue The Signet Library next door. Further on near the end of the high street is Canongate Kirk which held a Royal Wedding in 2011 and has a wonderful bright interior and a large court yard for a city centre church.

Near Edinburgh is the privately owned Borthwick Castle where brides can prepare in the bedroom where Mary Queen of Scots resided. Couples can choose between a ceremony in a nearby church and being led back to the reception in the Great Hall by a piper or in the Garrison room at the castle. There is an opportunity for bride and groom portrait photographs on the top of the twin towers and enjoy spectacular vistas as the late night sun sets.

Another beautiful venue for your wedding, is Oxenfoord Castle in Midlothian and again you can decide between a ceremony at nearby Cranston church and walk back led by a piper down the “long walk” turning off to have some portraits at the old gate and the bridge. Although fine weather cannot be certain you can at least be guaranteed beautiful ornate interiors from the many wedding venues Edinburgh has to offer. However the more adventurous may want to venture to other parts of Scotland, such as Dryburgh Abbey and the splendour of Roxburgh Hotel and Golf Course in Roxburghshire and home of the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe.
